Ashland Creek Bird Watching

Join us on this one and a half hour casual walkabout tour, exploring Ashland's delightful Lithia Park downtown.

Wood Thrush in Ashland Oregon Birding Tours

This tour is ideal for people with limited amount of time and a casual interest in birdwatching. Designed primarily as an introduction to birdwatching, this tour is also suitable for experience birdwatchers looking to further explore the local avifauna.

We explore the easy flat trails along Ashland Creek and the artistically designed Japanese garden in search of avian residents. We either meet at your hotel's lobby if downtown or pick a meeting place inside Lithia Park.

Birding Tours in Ashland Oregon

This tour affords us an opportunity for more in-depth local birding around the close-by Emigrant Lake (5 miles from downtown.) Here we see a wide variety of birds ranging from waterfowl to Bald Eagles to Bullock's Orioles. The Oak habitat surrounding Emigrant Lake is an ideal location for 5 species of Woodpeckers, including Acorn and Lewis's, as well as Red-breasted Sapsuckers. Oak Titmouse, various species of Flycatchers, Warblers, Vireos and colorful Western bluebirds roundout the possibilities. On this tour, the guide rides along with you in your own vehicle.


☞  3 hour Hummingbird Photography Tour

3 hours spent at local hummingbird feeders teaching client how to achieve top-quality results of this difficult and unique subject matter.

Optional portfolio review proceeds field session, to allow client an opportunity to work on their specific technical difficulties. Emphasis on achieving pleasing clear and sharp results. The use of professional fill lighting techniques using your camera equipment will be included.

Light metering, shutter speeds, apertures and lens choices will be covered.

This tour is open to beginners, as well as experienced photographers. On this tour, the guide rides along with you in your own vehicle.


☞  3 hour Hyatt Lake Resort or Greensprings Inn Lake/Land Tour

Each of these 3 hour tours begins at the local lodging, with an early-morning exploration of the easy trails on the property. Afterwords we take a short trip over to Hyatt Lake and explore various locations around the perimeter for Bald Eagle, Osprey, Hawk species, Double-crested Cormorant, various Warblers, Vireos, Wrens and Assorted Waterfowl, etc.

☞  4 hour Advanced Wildlife Photography Tour

Explore more in-depth concepts in wildlife photography. Topics include professional gear choices, methodology, ethics and philosophy of wildlife photography. Advanced topics include portfolio review with detailed analysis of client process and results. Emphasis on teaching client how to achieve publishable magazine quality professional wildlife photographs.

☞  8 hour Klamath Basin Wildlife Refuge Odyssey

This premium full-day tour to the world-class birding location in the Klamath basin is packed with countless avian possibilities.

Strong populations of waterfowl, raptors, owls and grassland species offer us much abundance to pack into an eight hour day. This tour begins in Ashland, with an hour and a half commute in your vehicle to the refuge.

We stop for an early afternoon lunch to refuel for late afternoon birding, before returning to Ashland. We cover as much as we possibly can in one day, but the Klamath Basin Wildlife Refuge can easily be explored over a series of days, which is why we offer a 2 day/1 night option as well.
